Good Monday

I’m glad to be writing this on the start of a very promising week. We had a wonderful Sunday with the church at Somprasong 4. With so many wonderful people to miss, its hard to remember them all. We were extremely glad to see Gratae, one of our former students, who was baptized into Christ this just a few months ago. Na Sao lovingly greeted us and didn’t stop hugging us for at least 5 minutes. All the members there show us so much love; its a feeling not soon forgotten.

Sunday’s activities were par for the course. Sunday worship usually lasts 2 hours, with another hour for Bible class. Lunch was prepared for the entire congregation as usual. On the menu: pork and potato soup, a spicy chicken and red pepper dish, and some chicken with a weird cucumber/squash type vegetable, plus some longkong fruit for desert. It rained most of the afternoon, but that didn’t stop the young guys from playing soccer in the middle of it. The regular volleyball matches after the evening worship service were cut short on account of rain as well.

Monday started slowly, but we were able to sit in for the first part of the church staff meeting. We got to discuss a few details about the work we will be doing. It looks like we can start teaching as soon as the middle of September and could have as many as 40 students. We also got to discuss some options regarding Thai language schools. We even set out to locate one that seemed to be offering what we need. Our formal language training can start, also, as soon as the middle of September.

Now the task for the rest of the week: trying to figure out how we are going to fit 40 students at all different levels into just 3 classes meeting just one day per week on Saturday. We’ll be preparing new lessons to accommodate the larger class sizes, and will hopefully bring about encouraging results in our students.

Thanks for the update, Neale.

So glad you had a good start to your work there. Nothing like hitting the ground running!

May God be with you both and the Somprasong 4 church.

Love,
Mom

Neale,

Glad you had a good Sunday. Hope the week goes well. I am sure you will be able to find accomodations for the students.

Lori and I will continue to pray for you and your service.

God bless,

Don Winningham

Hey, we love your updates. We just started “school” yesterday. We’ve never really
done “geography” as in maps/places/locations, etc. So this will be good to keep up with Thailand, particulalry after were learn where you are located! ha

Have a good week!
